The very first Cabbage Patch Kids were born in Babyland General Hospital in 1978 and were the brain child of Xavier Roberts. The original dolls had soft cloth bodies and round vinyl or plastic heads, but over the years they have transformed and are now made in a variety of different materials. When they were first introduced, they were called, “Little People,” but that name was changed to “Cabbage Patch Kids,” in the early 80’s and as they say, “the rest is history.” These dolls reached their peek of popularity in the eighties, but have continued to remain very popular.

The original Cabbage Patch Kids in the early 80’s were well sought after and often hard to find. At times, they were so popular that people had to wait months for Cabbage Patch Kids. The Cabbage Patch Kids were so popular that they soon had their very own children’s story, record, clothing line, toys, diapers, and hospital.

The hospital where the Cabbage Patch Kids are born is called, Babyland General Hospital and it is located in Cleveland, Georgia.
